With India suffering another whitewash at home, several things have been called out by the former cricketers. Aakash Chopra, who is a famous cricket analyst, also talked about the probable reasons why India lost the game. He criticised the team's choice of playing with all-rounders in the Test format.

India's downfall in the Test format continues to take place. Recently, India has lost another home series in a whitewash against South Africa. After this loss, the team and even the Head Coach has received a lot of criticism from the fans and media. Amidst all this, the former cricketers are also figuring out the reasons so down in this format.

Aakash Chopra, cricket analyst and former KKR player, has commented on the team's loss. He talked about the ways in which South Africa was able to win the game against India at its own home ground. Along with that, Chopra also talked about the team's growing obsession with the all-rounders in the Test format.

1. What Aakash Chopra Said?

After India had suffered a terrible loss against South Africa, Aakash Chopra went on his YouTube channel. He posted a video on his channel a few hours ago, talking about India's downfall in its own home conditions. Chopra has posted a detailed video, which is approximately 12 minutes long, and fans can take a look at the same from his

He talked about India's growing obsession with the all-rounders. Chopra said,“If you consistently to pick bowlers who bat and batters who bowl and want depth in both batting and bowling, unfortunately Test cricket doesn't allow that. In the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, we played bowlers who could also bat. But, we forgot that we have to pick 20 wickets, which we couldn't do. We lost the series there.”

India has been playing with two all-rounders for the last decade. But this has changed over the last few Test games played by the team. Earlier, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin used to handle the pressure being the two sole all-rounders in the team. And now, there are several all-rounders present in one match

Chopra continued by saying,“India are blessed as, in Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja, they have two phenomenal all-rounders. But if you want to improve on it and decide to play Axar Patel and Nitish Reddy as well, then it is not going to work out. This obsession with all-rounders needs to be kept aside, for Test cricket at least.”

With India having all-rounders in its team, the specialist batters were a few. There were just three specialist batsmen available in the team, who could help them to score runs from any condition of the game. These were Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant, who with them in this format.

Chopra further said,“Looking at the team for the second Test, you have three proper batters at the top and three proper bowlers at the bottom. In between, all of them are all-rounders. Both Dhruv Jurel and Rishabh Pant are keeper-batters. Then you have Sundar, Reddy and Jadeja. I am not raising fingers at the bowling because this is the best that India has. But, in batting, we need specialists if you want to create a team.”

2. Indian All-rounders in Second Test

India had gone in the second Test match with three all-rounders. The team has substituted Nitish Kumar Reddy with Axar Patel, which made a like to like exchange for the team. But Nitish Kumar Reddy was unable to deliver his best to the team despite being given an opportunity to do so. In the second Test, he scored 10 runs in the first innings and got out for a duck

Along with that, Nitish Kumar Reddy had bowled just 10 overs in the entire game. This made his appearance in the team questionable by the fans. Washington Sundar was the second all-rounder for India in this game. He bowled a total of 48 overs in the game and managed to take just one wicket. Despite this, he 48 runs in the first innings and 16 runs in the second innings.

Ravindra Jadeja has been the team's best all-rounder in the Test format for a long time. He bowled 28 overs in the first innings and 28.3 overs in the second innings, managing to take 6 wickets for the team. Even in the challenging chase, Jadeja stood as the lone warrior, as he scored a brilliant half-century for the team.
