AS-W vs BH-W | Twitter left in dark after umpire jumps gun to deny DRS and leave Jonassen infuriated

Umpires often jump the gun to arrive at wrong conclusions and it repeated during the Adelaide Strikers vs Brisbane Heat match in WBBL. Jess Jonassen, the Heat’s skipper, tried to review an on-field decision, with the umpire immediately denying it to irk the batter before finally agreeing to it.

After an excellent start and the loss of both openers, captain Jess Jonassen tried to take the innings forward with new batter Georgia Redmayne. But the southpaw was caught right in front of the wicket, trying to reverse sweep a straight and fuller delivery from leg-spinner Amanda-Jade Wellington in the 12th over.
With the umpire showing no hesitation in raising the finger, Jonassen also responded instantly as she signalled for the DRS review. But the official shook his head and denied the request, which irked the all-rounder as she angrily queried why the referral was not allowed.
She was not happy as she started her walk back still unhappy at the umpire and just then the umpire realised his mistake and took up the review. The last referral from the batting side ended up in an umpire’s call and they saved the review.
Replays explained why Jonassen was angry as the snickometer showed a spike as the ball passed the willow. The third umpire rightly asked his on-field colleague to change his original decision to extend Jonassen’s stay in the middle.
Twitter was confused why the Heat skipper’s review was not admitted at first instance as the umpire was quick to amend his glaring error.
Confusion!
A bit of DRS confusion and safe to say JJ wasn't happy about it 😅
