It is never over till it's over, and Lizelle Lee painfully realised that during the Women’s Big Bash League game against Melbourne Renegades in Sydney. The Hobart Hurricanes wicketkeeper dropped the ball just before effecting the runout of Georgia Wareham to extend the batter’s stay at the crease.

‌Hobart Hurricanes had Melbourne Renegades on the mat after electing to bowl in the Women’s Big Bash League game at the North Sydney Oval in Sydney on Thursday. Off-spinner Molly Strano dismissed openers Courtney Webb and Emma de Broughe in her first two overs before Linsey Smith’s blinder ended Renegades captain Sophie Molineux's stay to reduce the batting side to 23/3 inside four overs.

Things would have gone further south had Lizelle Lee not missed out on an easy chance to run Georgia Wareham out in the next over. With Lauren Smith bowling a widish short of a length delivery, Wareham went back to slash the Kookaburra towards the cover fielder before immediately taking off for a non-existent single.

The fieldswoman was swift as she ran towards her left to collect the ball before firing in a full-blooded throw above the stumps. Wicketkeeper Lee did well to collect the ball from a height, but fumbled just as she disturbed the furniture.

On her way down, Lee dropped the ball out of her gloves before going on to smash the stumps. Wareham, who was nowhere in the frame, breathed a sigh of relief and fortunately continued her stay in the middle.

Twitter was stunned as Lee missed an easy chance to put the Renegades into a deep hole, but it was not to be as the Australian all-rounder held on to revive the batting innings.
