But the BCCI has finally decided to break silence on the recent reports circulating on the internet.

India has gone from a team which won overseas series to one which doesn't even win home series. This all has happened over the last few months, as India started the downfall with the whitewash against New Zealand. And it has continued with yet another whitewash against South Africa

After all this, there were reports that the BCCI has approached Virat Kohli to take back his Test retirement. Recently, Kohli also played a wonderful knock in the first ODI, showing that he is still having the grit to play the game. Amidst all this, the BCCI has decided to clear the air around Virat Kohli’s Test comeback.

1. BCCI Reacts to Rumours

With the rumours being spread all over the internet, the questions were also raised to the BCCI. And fans had waited to get an answer from them to know about the reality of this matter. The BCCI Secretary, Devajit Saikia talked about the same and responded to the media about the rumours of BCCI approaching Virat Kohli his Test retirement.

Saikia dismissed these rumours by saying, “What’s being said about Virat Kohli is just a rumour. There has been no conversation with Kohli about this. Do not give weight to rumours. Nothing of that sort has happened.”He has confirmed that there are no talks going on in the BCCI to have Virat Kohli take back his retirement from the Test format.

But this news has quickly gone viral over the internet and even the cricket analysts and former players weighed into it. The downfall of the Indian team in the Test format is unwatchable, even for the players who used to play against India. Kevin Pietersen, former England cricketer, as he tweeted.

He said, “I don’t always believe what I read in the media or on social media. But, if it’s half true that both Virat and Rohit are considering playing Test cricket again, then it needs to be taken very very seriously. The survival of Test cricket is a hot topic of conversation and if the biggest stars in the game are wanting to play it again, they must play!”

2. Kohli Reacts to Test Comeback

The rumours were so strong that even Virat Kohli had to react to the same. He played for India in the first ODI match against South Africa, making his comeback on the home soil for the first time since February in internationals. Kohli talked about the rumours and he has also dismissed the same, hinting that just one format of the game.

Harsha Bhogle asked Virat Kohli whether it is true that he will continue to play just one format of the game or if he has any future plans. To this, Virat Kohli responded by saying that it is going to be this way, and he will continue to play just one format for the Indian team and give his best in the same.

3. Virat Kohli's Test Retirement

Virat Kohli has been one of the stalwarts for the Indian team in the Test format. Leading the team to new heights to even creating records which were untouched by any other player, Virat Kohli was able to do his best for the Indian team even in the longest format of the game. He has also been , having a record of 40 wins in 68 Tests.

Even though he has retired from the game, Virat Kohli is still missed by the fans in the longest format.
