The BCCI has announced its squad for the Under-19 Asia Cup. There were several impressive young talents available in the team such as Henil Patel, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, and a lot more. And the captain of the team has been announced as none other than , Ayush Mhatre.
From making his debut in the Indian Premier League, to making his mark at the international level, Mhatre has done well this year. Now, he will be eager to prove his worth as a captain of the team. He will be leading the India Under-19 team in the upcoming Under-19 Asia Cup, which starts from 12 December.

1. IPL Debut
It all started with Ayush Mhatre making his debut in the Indian Premier League. Being just 18 years old, he was a part of Chennai Super Kings in the latest edition of the tournament. He was not bought by the team in the Mega Auction, but there is always an opportunity which comes up at your doors.

Ruturaj Gaikwad got injured in the middle of the season, and was set to miss out the remaining games. In his place, Chennai Super Kings had signed Ayush Mhatre as a replacement for him. At the age of 17, Mhatre received his first ever IPL contract, being the Super Kings for just 30 Lakh.
But he made sure that every penny paid by Chennai Super Kings to him was worth it. In the seven games he played for Chennai Super Kings, he was able to give the team an electrifying start in the same. Making his debut in the clash against Mumbai Indians, Mhatre announced his form 32 runs off just 15 balls.
His best knock came when Chennai Super Kings went against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. While chasing the massive target of 214 runs, he was able to score 94 runs off just 48 balls. Even though he missed out on his century, Mhatre had impressed everyone with his performances.
2. Dominating vs England Under-19 in Tests
Ayush Mhatre was also selected in the India Under-19 team for the tour of England. The first Youth Test between these two teams was played at Beckenham, and it started from 12 July. Mhatre made his debut for the team in this format, and he went on to score a century in his first game. 102 runs off 115 balls with 14 fours and 2 sixes.
It was a magnificent show by Ayush Mhatre despite playing his first ever game in England. And he continued the same form even in the second Youth Test, making his mark for the team. The second Test match also ended in a draw, but Ayush Mhatre the English bowlers.
He went on to score 80 runs off 90 balls in the first innings of the game. Later, he smashed his second century in the series, scoring 126 runs for India Under-19 of just 80 balls. He was the highest run scorer in the series, with 340 runs coming off his bat in just two Test matches.
3. Captaincy of India Under-19
Taking a look at his form, the BCCI could not ignore the young talent. He also did well for India A in the unofficial Test against South Africa A, where he went on to score a half-century. Such impressive form even helped Ayush Mhatre to be a part of the India Under-19 team for the Under-19 Asia Cup starting
Not only has he been named in the team, he has been named as the captain of the team. Leading the national side at such a young age comes in as a great achievement for Ayush Mhatre. He will now be eager to showcase his worth as a captain by winning the tournament, and ending the year on a high note.
