The South Africa tour of India had an unexpected start, as South Africa started off with a win. The match at the Eden Gardens was intense for the fans to watch, as South Africa ended up winning the game. Despite chasing a low total of 124 runs, India fell short by a margin of 30 runs, yet another home test.

The team also faced another problem, having their skipper out of the game since the second innings. Shubman Gill suffered an injury while batting in the first innings of the team. And before the second Test, there have been questions whether he will be available to play or not. However, there is some positive news for the Indian team ahead of the next Test.

1. Shubman Gill's Injury Update

Shubman Gill stepped out to bat at number four in India's first innings. He had a great start to the game but was only able to play a few balls before being ruled out. Gill smashed a delivery for four but he hurt his neck in this process. Medics arrived at the scene to ensure that he is doing well,

Following that, when fans expected it to be a normal concussion test, Gill was spotted returning back to the pavilion. The seriousness of the injury was not noticed by the fans until all the other batsmen got out, putting the Indian team down at 9 wickets. With Gill not coming out to bat, India's innings also  with a lead.

Gill was also feeling discomfort following this injury, and he was also taken to the hospital on the same day. Even on the next day when India had to bat again, Gill did not return to the field. He was not even present in the stadium, as he was admitted in the hospital, noting the of his injury.

India ended up losing the game by 30 runs, as they had batted with one batsman short in both innings. Gill was also monitored by the BCCI medical team, and fans waited for positive news on his health updates. It has now been reported that Shubman Gill has been discharged by the where he was admitted.

This is positive news for the Indian team, knowing that the injury is not serious. But at the same time, the availability of Shubman Gill remains a question within the camp. The Indian team's coaching staff said that they will be taking a decision on Gill’s on 22 November, which is also the date when the Test starts.

Several reports also claim that Shubman Gill remains doubtful to play for the team in the second Test. This also puts concern on who would be leading the team in his place. And, who could be taking the number four spot for the team, as Gill remained a pinnacle at this spot since the India tour of England.

2. Shubman Gill vs South Africa

In his Test career, Shubman Gill has played just three Test matches against South Africa. The two tests came back when India went on a tour of South Africa, having an experienced side. The series had ended up in a draw, but Shubman Gill was not able to show up his best performances against the Proteas.
