Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are now playing just one format of the game, which is the ODIs. And this also raises questions whether they will be able to make it till the 2027 World Cup or not. Both of them looked good with the bat even in the Australian tour, but in the Indian camp.

Amidst all of these questions, the former South African player, Jonty Rhodes gave his opinion on the same. He compared Rohit and Virat to the legends such as Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni. Fans also used to ask for them whether they will be playing in the next World Cup or eventually they will retire before playing the same.

1. What Jonty Rhodes Said?

Jonty Rhodes was present in an interview with the IANS, where he talked about a number of things. He was also questioned to give his opinion on the Indian team having Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for the 2027 World Cup. Fans wanted to have an honest answer from Jonty Rhodes for the same, and he

He said,“I get asked, it happened with Tendulkar, it happened with Dhoni. It's like the next bunch of guys, when should they retire? When should they play? It's up to them. I mean, they keep producing the runs. Then you've got select them. They've got so much experience. We know Tournaments like a World Cup. It's not just about the talent that you have, but it's also about, you know, the sort of mental strength of players. So Kohli & Rohit certainly have that in abundance.”

The examples he used of Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni perfectly defined the situation. Before the 2011 World Cup, there were questions whether Tendulkar would be a part of the team or not. He has played various World Cup editions, but never been able to win the same. But he managed to score runs in his last World Cup, and the title.

This also happened with MS Dhoni, who was questioned for the 2019 World Cup. Still, he ended up playing his final World Cup edition for India in 2019, and delivered well for the team. Although the Indian team managed to reach the semi-finals of the tournament, Dhoni's ODI career is still marked with his World Cup legacy.
