Indian fans are eagerly waiting for an update on Shubman Gill. The Indian skipper suffered an injury while batting for the team in the first Test. Playing just three balls in the game, and didn't come to the field for the remainder of the game.

1. Gill's Medical Update

Fans have been waiting for the BCCI to provide a medical update on the Indian skipper. Ever since he suffered the injury in his neck, the BCCI medical team has been with Gill to ensure his speedy recovery. But at the same time, fans also want to know whether they will be able to see in the second Test at Guwahati or not.

The medical update given by the BCCI , “Team India captain Shubman Gill suffered a neck injury on Day 2 of the Kolkata Test against South Africa and was taken to the hospital for examination after the end of day's play. He was kept under observation and discharged the next day. Shubman has been responding well to the medical treatment provided and will travel to Guwahati with the team on 19th November, 2025.”

Still in the statement given by the BCCI, it is not clearly mentioned whether Gill will be there for the second Test in the playing XI or not. Continuing the announcement, they said,“He will continue to be monitored by the BCCI medical team and a decision on his participation in the 2nd Test will be taken accordingly.”

2. Gill's Injury

Shubman Gill suffered a serious injury in the first test match against South Africa. It was his first Test at the Eden Gardens, and Gill thought to make it memorable. South Africa batted first in the game and they were able to score just 159 runs in the first innings. Responding to the same, to smash boundaries for the team.

On the third ball which he played, he attempted a sweep shot. The shot surely went for four runs, but Gill had started to feel some pain in his neck. Although he is traveling to Guwahati with the Indian team, his participation in the game remains uncertain. And if things don't go their way, the BCCI will also have to bring up a new captain of the team against South Africa.

With him being the vice captain, he remains the next in line to captain the team if Shubman Gill is unavailable.
