Mohammed Siraj has always been lion-hearted whenever he turns up for India, and he proved that yet again in the second Test against South Africa in Kolkata. The pacer struck in just his second over of the innings to break Simon Harmer’s timber after the batter made a horrific leave.

‌With an overnight lead of 63 runs, South Africa looked positive at the start of the third day of the first Test against India in Kolkata. Captain Temba Bavuma and Corbin Bosch extended their partnership to 44 runs before Jasprit Bumrah struck to dismiss Bosch.

However, Bavuma looked comfortable and assured from the other end as he completed his half-century and went about extending the visitors’ lead past the 100-run mark. In the company of Simon Harmer, he added key runs before stand-in skipper Rishabh Pant went to a spirited Mohammed Siraj for effecting a breakthrough.

In just his second over, the pacer underlined the skipper’s faith in him with a peach of a delivery that had Harmer committing a horrific blunder. With Siraj using his go-to scrambled seam to pitch the ball on a good length outside off stump, Harmer was already lined up as he decided to shoulder arms.

However, to the batter’s horror, the red cherry seamed in after pitching to hit the top of off stump before breaking the timber. The pacer was chuffed as he pulled out his favourite Ronaldo celebration, while Harmer was distraught as he realised his folly before starting his long walk back.

Twitter was in awe as Siraj delivered yet again, picking up two wickets in just his second over to bowl out the visitors for 153 runs, which set the home side with a target of 124 runs.
