LSG got off to a wonderful start after being put in to bat first with Mitchell Marsh (65 off 39) and Aiden Markram (61 off 38) scoring a combined five sixes and six fours taking the side to 69/0 at the end of the powerplay. Their 115-run association, off just 63 balls, set the perfect foundation for a huge total but the SRH bowlers pulled things back picking up four wickets and conceding just 62 runs in the next 8 overs. But Nicholas Pooran’s enterprising cameo of 45 from 26 balls ensured that LSG crossed the 200-run mark to record 205/7 in 20 overs.
In reply, the visitors also started in similar fashion though they lost opener Atharva Taide in the second over. Abhishek Sharma, the other opener, looked in great touch as SRH powered to 72/1 after the first six overs. Abhishek continued his aggressive approach hitting four consecutive sixes off Ravi Bishnoi bringing up his 50 in the seventh over, off just 18 balls. From then on, it was SRH’s game though the left-hander was out in the next over. Heinrich Klaasen (47) and Kamindu Mendis (32) added 55 runs for the fourth wicket to hand the visitors their fourth win of their season. With the loss, LSG were out of contention for a playoff spot in IPL 2025.
