Praveen Kumar swings from cricket to politics; Joins Samajwadi Party

Former India pacer Praveen Kumar has joined the Samajwadi Party on Sunday after meeting the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesk Yadav. Prasing the Chief Minister, Praveen has said that the government has done enough for the growth of sportsmen in the state.

The Meerut born all-rounder who has played six Tests, 68 One day Internationals, and 10 T20Is, said the reporters, “I have met the Chief Minister and decided to join the party. I will do whatever is possible for the party,” reported The Hindu.

On asking whether he would contest in the assembly elections to be held next year, Kumar said, “I am a kid in this field. As of now I will try to learn it .”

By praising the Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, Kumar said, “The Chief Minister has done a lot for sportsmen and big stadiums are being constructed in Lucknow and Saifai.”
