The Indian Extreme Nationals start preparing for the 2020 Tokyo games


The Indian Extreme Nationals is a nationwide competition of the best athletes in skateboarding and BMX which will be presided over by a panel of judges headed by Warren Stuart, the Vice-president of the Hong Kong Federation of Extreme Sports.

Ocean fruit water is the beverage partner and Inorbit Malad is the venue partner of this competition.
Extreme sports association of India ( XSAI) the official association of Skateboarding and BMX (flatland and Park) in India works under the aegis of the Asian extreme sports federation (AXF) which controls the Asian Skateboarding federation and also affiliated to the Olympic council of Asia, International Skateboarding federation and the International Bmx freestyle federation(IBFF)
More than 150 Indian players in both the discipline will complete each other in an open category and will be awarded and ranked as per their age group viz, Senior, juniors and sub-juniors.
Sunil Kutty Menon, President of Extreme sports association says “ After Team India participated in the CHUNCHEON Extreme games, we are more confident of a better performance in the upcoming Asian skateboarding championships and this Extreme Nationals will decide the actual ratings of Indian extreme athletes”
The Extreme sports are played on park which is also called the ramp which is an Olympic approved design built in Thailand with various level of interesting installations and contours to give elements of Speed, tricks, balance etc
Extreme Nationals will also include a “Train the Judge ” India programme in skateboarding conducted by Head Judge Warren to prepare and monitor Team India gradually. XSAI has handpicked few of the most experienced skateboarders in the country for this programme.
As Skateboarding is the new sport which is part of the Olympic family and will feature for the first time in 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, this sport has suddenly got a lot of traction and also a glamour quotient.

Namdev Shiragaonkar the India Olympic associations youngest Executive board member from Mumbai, says “ Extreme Sports is the 21st century sports and have a great future in India . I congratulate all the participants of the Extreme Nationals and would like to see few players representing skateboarding for the 2020 Olympics”
