Chelsea have triggered the £25m obligation to buy Jadon Sancho from Manchester United after securing a top-15 Premier League finish. The clause was confirmed following their 2-1 win over Fulham. However, the Blues can still pay a £5m penalty to cancel the deal, with manager Enzo Maresca yet to confirm Sancho permanent stay.

For the 2024–25 season, Jadon Sancho joined Chelsea on a season-long loan from Manchester United, with a £25 million obligation-to-buy clause included in the deal. This clause was contingent on Chelsea finishing 15th or higher in the Premier League. Following a dramatic 2-1 comeback win over Fulham—thanks to late goals by Tyrique George and Pedro Neto—Chelsea are now guaranteed to finish at least 13th, automatically triggering the obligation to buy Sancho permanently.

However, Chelsea still retain the right to reverse the decision by paying a £5 million penalty clause. As of now, the club has not made a final call, leaving Sancho's long-term future uncertain. Manager Enzo Maresca remains non-committal, acknowledging that while Sancho has played regularly, his overall numbers could be better. Maresca has often rotated his wingers, preferring Pedro Neto and Noni Madueke in recent games.

Currently sitting fifth in the league—the final Champions League spot—Chelsea are focused on securing European football, but Sancho's transfer saga remains a lingering question. Whether the Blues finalize the deal or pay the opt-out fee, a decision will be expected in the upcoming summer window, with Manchester United waiting to see if they will receive the full £25 million or just £5 million.
