Delhi Capitals put in a clinical performance to beat Punjab Kings by six wickets in Jaipur and end their Indian Premier League 2025 campaign with a win on Saturday. Sameer Rizvi scored his first IPL fifty to top score for DC while Mustafizur Rahman was their best bowler with three wickets.

‌Opting to bowl first, Delhi Capitals had a good start at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium as left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman dismissed Punjab Kings’ in-form opener Priyansh Arya in the second over with the score reading just 10. But new batter Josh Inglis came out all-guns smashing two sixes and three fours in his entertaining cameo of 32 off 12 balls to power PBKS to 60/2 at the end of the powerplay. But once Inglis left, skipper Shreyas Iyer dominated the middle phase as he looked at ease against both pace and spin. He scored his fifth half-century of the season and Punjab was comfortably placed at 172 when he was dismissed in the 18th over after making 53 off 34 balls. Marcus Stoinis put his long handle to good use as he hit four sixes and three fours and remained unbeaten on 44 off 16 balls to power Punjab to 206/8 in their batting essay. Left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman stood out for the Capitals picking up 3/33 in four overs while the wrist spin duo of Vipraj Nigam and Kuldeep Yadav ended with two wickets apiece.

In reply, DC skipper Faf du Plessis and KL Rahul got the team off to a good start with a 55-run partnership off 33 balls as the visitors reached 61/1 at the end of the powerplay. But the dismissal of both openers in consecutive overs helped PBKS get a foothold in the match. However, Karun Nair looked in great nick after starting off with a six in his very first ball and then scoring four consecutive boundaries off debutant spinner Praveen Dubey. He found an able ally in Sameer Rizvi as the duo added 62 runs in just five overs and Capitals were left with 52 runs to get in the last five overs when Karun was dismissed for a well-made 44 off 27 balls. Rizvi’s first half-century in IPL could not have come at a better time as he remained unbeaten on 58 off 25 to help his side to the target with three balls to spare. While DC ended their IPL 2025 campaign with a win, PBKS lost the chance to go to the top of the IPL 2025 points table. However, they are still in contention for a top-two spot with their last game against Mumbai Indians on Monday.
