Despite sitting 16th in the Premier League with 17 losses, Manchester United will retain Ruben Amorim as head coach, even if they lose the Europa League final against Spurs. The club supports his rebuilding plans, targeting Matheus Cunha (£62.5m) and Liam Delap (£30m), with several players including Marcus Rashford likely to be sold.
After the end of a disastrous domestic campaign, Manchester United have decided to retain head coach Ruben Amorim for the next season, even if the team loses the upcoming Europa League final against Tottenham on 21 May. Despite being appointed in November to replace Erik ten Hag, Amorim has failed to lift the club's form in the Premier League, where United currently sit in 16th place, with 17 defeats, their worst record since the 1973-74 season.
They were also knocked out of both the FA Cup and League Cup. Still, the board believes Amorim deserves the summer to rebuild the squad with players better suited to his tactics. The Europa League remains their last hope, with Champions League qualification on the line in the final. Amorim, however, voiced concerns about the mentality of the squad, urging a brave approach in the summer.
He has identified Wolves forward Matheus Cunha, who has a £62.5 million release clause, and Ipswich’s Liam Delap, valued at £30 million, as top targets. United must sell players to fund these moves, with Marcus Rashford, currently on loan at Aston Villa, likely to be sold. Other potential exits include Jadon Sancho, Antony, Casemiro, and Rasmus Højlund.
