Luis Diaz has completed a £65.5m move from Liverpool to Bayern Munich after two failed contract extension attempts. Despite interest from Barcelona, Bayern secured the Colombian winger. Liverpool, having earned over £130m from sales this summer, now turns their focus to Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, valued at £150m, as a potential replacement.

When the summer transfer window heated up, Liverpool winger Luis Diaz completed a £65.5 million move to Bayern Munich, beating out competition from Barcelona. Signed from Porto in January 2022 for £37.5 million, Diaz leaves Anfield with two years left on his contract, having played a key role in securing Liverpool’s 20th Premier League title. After rejecting an initial £58.5 million bid, Liverpool accepted Bayern's improved offer, generating a £22 million profit. Diaz’s exit comes after failed contract extension talks and Liverpool’s understanding that the 28-year-old wanted a new challenge.

The club has now earned over £130 million from player sales this summer. Attention now shifts to Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, with Liverpool maintaining interest in the striker. Though no formal bid has been made, Isak has reportedly told Newcastle he wishes to explore options, prompting manager Eddie Howe to send him home from pre-season due to the transfer speculation.

Newcastle values Isak at £150 million, with three years remaining on his deal, giving them strong negotiating power. Meanwhile, Liverpool has already spent heavily, bringing in players like Florian Wirtz (£116m), Hugo Ekitike (£79m), and Jeremie Frimpong (£29.5m), signalling serious ambition ahead of the 2025/26 season.
