Raheem Sterling is set to return to Chelsea after a disappointing loan spell at Arsenal. The winger has made 25 appearances this season, scoring just once and providing five assists. He has started only five league games and failed to impress Mikel Arteta or the fans. Arsenal have begun talks with Kingsley Coman as they plan attacking reinforcements.
When the Premier League clash between Arsenal and Crystal Palace drew near, Raheem Sterling shared a training update on Instagram, captioned “Final push before Palace.” However, his loan spell at Arsenal from Chelsea has been underwhelming. Sterling has made 25 appearances this season but contributed just one goal, in the EFL Cup against Bolton and five assists, with only five starts in the league.
He came off the bench for 17 minutes during Arsenal’s recent 4–0 win over Ipswich but had little impact. Concerns also emerged over Bukayo Saka, who received treatment following a challenge from Leif Davis, though manager Mikel Arteta later clarified the injury was not serious. Still, Saka’s fitness might influence team selection ahead of the Palace tie, which is key in Arsenal’s chase for a Champions League spot. Football Insider reports Arsenal have no plans to make Sterling’s move permanent.
Talks have reportedly begun with Kingsley Coman’s representatives, as Arsenal aim to bolster their attack with experience and title-winning quality. With Sterling’s exit looming, Arteta’s focus shifts to reinforcements that can lift the side for the challenges ahead. Arsenal’s pursuit of top-four football appears to be driving key transfer decisions.
