SL vs BAN | Twitter stunned as Thushara and Chameera give Bangladesh nightmares with dream start

‌Dot balls are a rarity in T20s, but Sri Lanka strangulated Bangladesh with plenty of them during their Asia Cup T20 2025 encounter in Abu Dhabi. Pacers Nuwan Thushara and Dushmantha Chameera started the innings with back-to-back wicket maidens against the Tigers to give the Lankans a dream start.

Sri Lanka opted to bowl after winning the toss in their inaugural Asia Cup T20 2025 match against Bangladesh at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The new ball bowlers soon vindicated their captain Charith Asalanka’s decision with an excellent start that had the Tigers reeling.

Nuwan Thushara was right on the money as he got a decent amount inswing to start proceedings with five dot balls. He did not allow Tanzid Hasan any room, with pressure mounting on the Bangladesh opener to tick off the scoreboard.

The slingy pacer then bowled another fullish delivery, off the last ball, that straightened a touch with Tanzid going for the big drive. But to his horror, the ball went between the bat and pads to hit the top of the off-stump.

Dushmantha Chameera, then, walked in and perfectly backed Thushara’s maiden over. He cranked up the pace to find Parvez Hossain Emon struggling like a fish out of water. The other opener also perished trying to drive a wider short of a length delivery and edging it straight to the keeper.

With new batter Towhid Hridoy defending his first two balls, Sri Lanka had a perfect start with Chameera also following suit with a wicket maiden. Twitter was stunned as Bangladesh were clearly undone by the pace, accuracy, and swing on display from the Lankan pacers.
