Is Alyssa Healy Having the Same Story as David Warner in IPL?

Two Australian players now share the same story in the Indian T20 leagues. And these players are David Warner and Alyssa Healy. Recently in the WPL Mega Auction, Healy went unsold despite being one of the finest T20I batters in the history of the game.

The Mega Auction of the Women's Premier League gave some of the biggest shockers to the fans. The biggest shockers of them all came during the Marquee list of the same, when Alyssa Healy got her name announced. No team raised their bar to go for the Australian skipper, as she has in the WPL.

But, if you have been watching the IPL for a while, it would have been a normal moment for you. What happened with Alyssa Healy also happened with yet another Australian player, and it is David Warner. Warner was also left unsold in the recent edition of the IPL, which almost ended his career in the tournament.

1. David Warner

It can't be denied that David Warner is one of the finest T20 batsmen of all time. Regardless of the league he plays, he has been able to deliver his best to the team at all times. This can be noted with his T20 career, where he holds records across the different leagues. Even in the IPL, his records have not been touched by any other player lately.

It was a shocking win for the team, as they won the tournament from the Eliminator stage, which was the first time any team did it.

Winning the T20 World Cup

David Warner has been a crucial figure in the T20 format. He helped Australia to win the T20 World Cup 2021, which was hosted in Dubai. This was also the first ICC event being hosted after the COVID-19 pandemic. And Warner made sure that he was able to use his second chance well and win the T20 World Cup for his team.

In the tournament, David Warner was able to finish as Australia's highest run scorer. He smashed 289 runs for the team in 7 matches at an average of 48.16, with three half-centuries. This was a tremendous record from David Warner in the tournament, as he also scored a half-century in the final match which helped Australia to win.

Unsold in IPL

Even after giving his best for the team in the T20 format, he didn't receive a good ending in the IPL. After not being able to do well in IPL 2024, Warner was released by Delhi Capitals ahead of IPL 2025 and he entered the Mega Auction. But unfortunately, he was not able to attract any buyers and eventually went unsold in the tournament.

2. Alyssa Healy

Taking a look at the story of David Warner, many fans will be able to relate it with Alyssa Healy. She has just mirrored everything that happened with David Warner in the IPL. Healy has been known as one of the finest T20 batters all around the world, as her skills and aggressive mindset has been helpful to the team across several occasions.

But she has not done that well when it comes to the Women's Premier League. Along with that, it should also be noted that Healy went on to miss the last edition of the tournament, which led to her being released. And now, she has gone unsold, marking one of the biggest shocking moments in the WPL Mega Auction.

Winning the Women's T20 World Cup

In the Women's T20 World Cup, Alyssa Healy played an important role for the Australian team. The team has been dominant in the ICC events but this time, they had to cement their place by winning the T20 World Cup. Alyssa Healy was a part of the team which defeated South Africa in the finals of the tournament to win the T20 World Cup 2022.

Playing just five matches for the team, Alyssa Healy was still the second highest run scorer for Australia in the tournament. She went on to score 189 runs for the team in 5 matches at an average of 47.25, with two half centuries. Her contributions were present to the team with both bat and gloves, as she actively took the wickets.

Unsold in WPL

Despite her best performances in the T20 format, Alyssa Healy could not sustain her place in the Women's Premier League. She entered the Mega Auction of the tournament after she was not retained by her previous team, UP Warriorz. Healy made her entrance in the Marquee list but failed to attract any buyers, due to which she has now gone unsold in the auction.
