GT vs LSG | Twitter concerned as Buttler power leaves Akash Singh ruled out with bloody hands

A wooden willow and a leather-cork ball are as dangerous as combinations get in a sport, especially when the aim is to sling and smash the Kookaburra as fast as possible. Akash Singh knows the sentiment all too well, after a Jos Buttler straight drive on Thursday left his hand soaked in blood.

‌Lucknow Super Giants set the Gujarat Titans a massive target of 236 at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Thursday on the back of Mitchell Marsh's maiden IPL ton as wel as rapid half-centuries from Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran. However, with Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan opening the batting, no target was safe given how they had demolished Delhi Capitals in the previous encounter with a 200-plus unbeaten stand. However, when the latter fell the situation began to look frim, and it was not until an on-field injury that the hosts finally seemed to catch a break.

On the first ball of the sixth over, Akash Singh went full to Jos Buttler who looked to smash the Kookaburra back down the pitch for some runs. Akash was aware of the threat and quickly got his hands in position to stop the Kookaburra from travelling much further than him but to his misfortune, the white rock did not nestle his paln. Instead, it seemed to hit the webbing on his finger and within moments his palm shone a bright red with the blood, drops of which scattered all around the grass and pitch.

The physios rushed onto the field as drinks were brought on simultaneously, and LSG's Ravi Bishnoi sportingly took on the duty of spraying water on Akash's hands to win Twitterati's hearts.
