RCB vs CSK | Twitter explodes as Romario Shepherd smashes 33 runs off Khaleel Ahmed for costliest over in IPL 2025

Batters clearing boundaries with their sheer power and bat speed is commonplace in T20 cricket these days. But Romario Shepherd pushed that envelope further with his unbelievable finishing exploits smashing the second fastest fifty in the IPL, including a 33-run over off Khaleel Ahmed at Bengaluru.

‌With the aim of going on top of the points table and seal their qualification, RCB started off on an aggressive note racing to 122/2 in 12 overs with both openers Virat Kohli and Jacob Bethell scoring quickfire half-centuries. But CSK made a comeback of sorts conceding just 37 runs in the next six overs and also picking up three wickets.

What ensued was a brute force from big-man Romario Shepherd as he launched himself on left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed. Having already given away 32 runs in his first two overs, the left-arm pacer was looking to get away with minimum damage as he came on to bowl the penultimate over. But Shepherd sent him on a leather hunt with back-to-back sixes off the first two balls over mid-wicket and long-off respectively.

The pacer seemed to have run out of luck as the next ball flew over short-third with a thickish edge and Khaleel seemed to have lost the battle conceding a six off a full toss the next ball. It was evident that the bowler had run out of ideas as he sidestepped on the bowling crease to concede a no-ball and worst for him even that flew past the fence.

Though he beat Shepherd on the free-hit ball, the West Indian smashed the next ball for a four to record the costliest over in IPL 2025. Twitter couldn't believe their eyes as the all-rounder got to his fifty in 14 balls, the second fastest in IPL to take RCB past the 200-run mark.

Monster!

He is so good at it!

Hahaha!

Sheer carnage!

What a power!

Dealing with sixes only!

He's a beast!

True that!

Devil!
