PBKS vs KKR | Twitter reacts as Shreyas Iyer gets done by Ramandeep’s agility against his ex-team

There’s often a special aura when a player faces his former team. But for Shreyas Iyer, the script didn’t go as planned against his ex-team at Mullanpur as his impressive run in this season came to a halt as he was dismissed cheaply, undone by Ramandeep Singh’s brilliance in the field.

‌Punjab skipper Shreyas Iyer had won the toss and elected to bat on what looked like a batting-friendly surface. Openers Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya gave Punjab a flying start, racing to 33/0 in just three overs. However, the momentum shifted in the fourth over when Harshit Rana struck twice as he removed Arya, and then sent Iyer back.

On the fourth delivery of the over, Rana banged in a short ball with ample width, clocking in at 141 kmph. Iyer stayed back and slashed at it, which soared flat and hard toward deep backward point. That’s where Ramandeep Singh came into the spotlight. Sprinting in from the boundary, he kept his eyes on the ball and timed his dive perfectly. Additionally, he plucked it just inches above the turf. Ramandeep, known for his electric fielding, proved his value once again, this time by dismissing his former skipper. Social media erupted, with fans applauding the catch and highlighting Iyer’s silver duck against his old franchise.

It's not unusual to be influenced by your captain — sometimes, it leads to funny moments. Punjab skipper Shreyas Iyer was clearly channeling India skipper Rohit Sharma when he forgot the changes in his squad at the toss while leading Punjab against Kolkata Knight Riders in Mullanpur.
