IPL 2025 | Twitter roars as Trent Boult castles Phil Salt after conceding first ball boundary

Very few bowlers have been able to deliver as consistently with the new ball as Trent Boult in the Indian Premier League. Even though the Kiwi was smashed for a boundary on the very first ball of the match,in typical Boult fashion, he responded by uprooting Phil Salt’s leg stump at the Wankhede.

Winning the toss, Hardik Pandya cited the role of dew in the second innings while announcing his decision to bowl first. And when you have Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar as your opening bowlers, why would you not. With the return of Jasprit Bumrah and Rohit Sharma to the playing XI, Mumbai fans would have hoped to see a change in fortune for team that has struggled for points this season.

However, things appeared to have gone wrong for the five time winners as Phil Salt landed his front leg, on the very first delivery, to send Boult’s full ball through extra cover for a boundary. But as the saying goes, you cannot keep a good man down for long. The Southpaw responded with a perfect inswinger that Salt missed completely. The ball went on to hit middle and leg and even uprooted the timber on its way.

Twitter could not hold its cool with the delivery as the RCB man found himself on the receiving end on two ends.
