Few athletes don’t just entertain the masses but inspire a group of young guns and earn respect with their playing style. A notable incident was spotted at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur when Indian stalwart Virat Kohli received homage from a fellow groundsman before the start of play.

India geared up to enforce a whitewash against Bangladesh in the second Test in Kanpur. With a flat black soil wicket expected, the downpour of rain a day before the match resulted in the delay of the start due to a wet outfield.  Eventually,  the toss was delayed and the spectators were kept at bay before it actually took place at 10:00 AM with the match slated for a one-hour delayed start. However, passionate fans always tend to find their moment in India’s matches and one of them happened to be a groundsman at the venue.

One of the cameras spotted Kohli strolling around the field for a pre-match practice session. There was a huge sheet of cover that was kept at the center pitch with the groundstaff around. As the 35-year-old was walking along the area, one of the men happened to walk towards him and suddenly took to his feet as a gesture of homage. Although Kohli was taken aback by the sudden arrival of the groudsman, the Twitterverse did not shy away from pouring their emotions on the passionate moment.
