‌IPL 2024 | Twitter reacts to chirpy Siraj staring down Curran amidst sharp bumpers

One of the reasons why tournaments like the Indian Premier League are so successful is because of the fiercely competitive nature of the players taking part in the contests. Mohammed Siraj exemplified this nature by staring down opposition batter Sam Curran after two perfect bouncers on Monday.

Winning the toss, Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Faf du Plessis went with the trend of fielding first in the M. Chinnaswamy and their bowlers backed it up well by allowing just 40 runs for the loss of a wicket inside the powerplay. With the middle overs phase swinging like a pendulum, Mohammed Siraj managed to pull the ball from Punjab Kings’ court before the second strategic timeout by troubling set-batter Curran with two bouncers and mixing it up with a stare-down.

Having already bowled his second bouncer in the first five deliveries of the 16th over, Siraj conceded just four runs including an unlucky bye off the wicketkeeper’s sloppy fielding. The pacer dished a yorker at the stumps on the sixth delivery that Curran could only jam down back to the bowler, resulting in a dot ball. Right after, Siraj grasped the ball and stared down at Curran with a bit of chirp before strolling back for the hydration break. The Twitterverse closely observed this encounter between Punjab and Bengaluru, and found this phase of play interesting, thereby taking to social media.
