IPL 2024 | Twitter and Kohli lauds back-in-form Patidar smoking Hardik in MI’s home

The idea of backing a potential candidate at his poor time can yield a desirable result in the future. A similar theory worked well for Royal Challengers Bengaluru as an off-form Rajat Patidar found his groove back and teed off captain Hardik Pandya at Mumbai Indians’ home venue in Wankhede.

Winning the toss and electing to field first culminated in favourable results for the Mumbai Indians in the powerplay as Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Madhwal removed Virat Kohli and Will Jacks respectively. However, the pair of Faf du Plessis and Rajat Patidar stabilised the stage for the visitors with Patidar switching gears and smoking Hardik Pandya for a six in the latter’s first over itself.

After conceding just three runs in the first four deliveries of the over, Patidar latched onto a good length delivery outside the off stump. The ball came nicely onto the bat as the Madhya Pradesh batter used the bottom hands perfectly to time the ball over long on the region for a mesmerising six, leaving Virat Kohli and the Twitterverse in applause.

What a shot!

Shot bhai!!

He was impressed!

Brilliant shot!

That's massive!

That's how you support!

Brilliant!

Big six that is!

Hope he repeats it again!
