Sri Lankan Cricket Board to send security expert to Pakistan before deciding fate of Test series

The Sri Lankan Cricket Board will be sending a security expert to Pakistan to weigh up the security system before it takes any call on the scheduled Test series in Lahore and Karachi. As per reports, Sri Lanka are still tentative on sending the national team to Pakistan for the two Tests.
As per a report on PTI, officials in the PCB have stated that Sri Lanka are yet to take a call on the participation of its national side in the Test matches in Lahore and Karachi in September-October, which is also a part of the ICC World Test Championship.
“The PCB has been in touch with them and has asked them to send their security expert so that we can make a presentation to him and he can judge for himself independently what the security situation is in Pakistan. The Sri Lankan board has told us they are in a period of transition and that they would have definite talks on this issue at the ICC’s annual conference in London,” the source said, reported PTI.
Pakistan were barred from hosting international matches for a while after the Sri Lankan team bus was attacked near the Gaddafi Stadium in March 2009. After the attack, Pakistan has played all of it’s home games in the UAE.
After putting in a lot of efforts, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka and West Indies are the only teams to have played an international game in Pakistan. Sri Lanka played a one-off T20 in October 2017 while West Indies played three T20Is in 2018.
