Reports : Ashish Nehra may announce retirement after New Zealand series

When the Indian selectors announced the squad for the three T20 matches against the Kangaroos, Nehra’s name came as a surprise, but he had successfully maintained his fitness at the age of 38, and that won the trust of the selectors, giving them the confidence that he can compete with the new crop of players. On the other hand, players like Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina failed to mount a comeback because of poor fitness.

His inclusion ensured his return to international cricket after almost eight months but now he is seriously thinking about retirement from the international stage, while he might continue playing in the IPL.

According to a report in the Mumbai Mirror, the Delhi cricketer may hang up his boots during the upcoming series against New Zealand, if not during the ongoing series against the Australia. Against New Zealand, India will play a limited over series comprises three ODI and three T20 matches. 

Nehra played 17 Tests, 120 ODIs and 26 T20I for India and his presence in the team helps other young bowlers in the team. He didn't  feature in the playing XI for the first T20 game against Australia in Ranchi but he has a chance in the remaining games.
